Internet Gaming Disorder describes a loss of control over gaming (online or offline), that negatively affects daily life with strong cravings, tolerance building and withdrawal symptoms and may lead to everyday impairments and severe suffering, such as social isolation, anxiety or depression. CBT and family-based interventions are the most common treatments, rather than pharmacological approaches (Pogarell et al. (2023).
