Adolescents at risk
Adolescence is the period from late childhood, through puberty to adulthood. During these years, young people experience major physical, emotional, and social changes. Mental health challenges often first appear during this stage of life. According to the WHO, one in seven people aged 10–19 is affected by mental illness, and an alarmingly high number of them commit suicide: https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/adolescent-mental-health Common risk factors include excessive social media use, sleep problems, bullying, family conflict, financial hardship, and climate-related concerns.
